AbbVie cuts ribbon on cancer patient and family retreat space at St. Jude, funded by $50M pledge
AbbVie’s latest development in cancer isn’t a new drug, but instead a place.
The Family Commons by AbbVie was unveiled on Monday, funded by a $50 million donation from the pharma, as a retreat for families and patients inside St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
The 45,000 square-foot second-floor space includes a kindergarten through 12th grade classroom complete with science lab and a library, an art room, recording studio, multiple play spaces and private rooms for family rest between hospital appointments. The family area will officially open on Feb. 7.
