Ab­b­Vie is en­list­ing re­al peo­ple — in­clud­ing pa­tients along­side its own em­ploy­ees and sci­en­tists — in un­script­ed so­cial me­dia ads un­der its cor­po­rate cam­paign “Here. Now.” The so­cial and dig­i­tal on­line video ads fea­ture the peo­ple talk­ing about Ab­b­Vie sci­ence and med­i­cines and the per­son­al con­nec­tions for each.

A chron­ic lym­pho­cyt­ic leukemia (CLL) pa­tient named Ben, for ex­am­ple, talks about his di­ag­no­sis at a time when “the op­tions weren’t re­al­ly great op­tions” as part of a new 15-sec­ond Face­book ad. Two Ab­b­Vie em­ploy­ees in­clud­ing VP of US on­col­o­gy Ahmed Kotb fol­lowed up, spelling out the phar­ma’s com­mit­ment to de­vel­op­ing med­i­cines for con­di­tions with lim­it­ed treat­ments.
