Af­ter spear­head­ing his­toric Covid ef­fort, Pfiz­er vac­cine R&D chief Kathrin Jansen to re­tire

Kathrin Jansen, the long­time vac­cine re­searcher and Pfiz­er vet­er­an who spear­head­ed a his­toric cam­paign to de­vel­op a Covid-19 shot, will re­tire lat­er this year.

As the head of vac­cine R&D at Pfiz­er, Jansen shaped and led the col­lab­o­ra­tion with BioN­Tech around the mR­NA vac­cine that would lat­er be­come known as Comir­naty (or, to more peo­ple, the Pfiz­er vac­cine) — the crown­ing achieve­ment in an al­ready il­lus­tri­ous ca­reer that brought three oth­er life-sav­ing in­oc­u­la­tions to the mar­ket.
