AstraZeneca's Pascal Soriot brought home nearly $19M last year, dwarfing some of Europe's highest pharma pay packages
Amid what Pascal Soriot called an “exceptional year in terms of revenue” for AstraZeneca, the chief executive took home nearly $19 million — a slight cut from last year’s pay, but still coming in millions above what his fellow European pharma CEOs took home last year.
Soriot raked in £13.8 million ($18.8 million) in 2021, about £1.3 million ($1.8 million) of which was considered base pay. In the company’s recent Q4 call with investors, he said AstraZeneca achieved its highest revenue numbers yet, putting it on track to reach its $40 billion annual revenue goal this year — one year ahead of schedule. Some of that success is attributed to the company’s Covid-19 campaign, which registered $4.1 billion in 2021 revenue.
