Aurinia's latest push for lupus nephritis awareness leans on the not-so-fun, but necessary realities of the chronic condition.

Aurinia ‘candid’ campaign encourages lupus nephritis patients to stay current on doctor checkups

“Peeing in a cup sucks.”

That’s the headline — and the uncomfortable truth — in one of Aurinia Pharmaceuticals’ new campaign ads encouraging lupus nephritis patients to prioritize doctor visits.

Because as it also points out in the same ad: “But kidney failure is way worse.”

Aurinia is hoping the eye-catching “Get Uncomfortable” campaign will spur people with the relatively silent disease to act before it’s too late. Chronic kidney disease caused by lupus nephritis is irreversible and could potentially lead to kidney failure, dialysis and the need for a kidney transplant. Urine testing is recommended every three months for patients.
