Bio­Marin makes $41M+ ex­pan­sion to Irish fa­cil­i­ty

Rare dis­ease phar­ma Bio­Marin plans to ex­pand its man­u­fac­tur­ing fa­cil­i­ty in Ire­land.

The com­pa­ny, which is based in No­va­to, Calif., said it plans to in­vest €38 mil­lion ($41.9 mil­lion) over four years to ex­pand its man­u­fac­tur­ing plant in the vil­lage of Shan­bal­ly, lo­cat­ed in Coun­ty Cork. Ac­cord­ing to Ire­land’s In­dus­tri­al De­vel­op­ment Agency, or IDA, the new ex­pan­sion plans to pro­duce, pack­age and la­bel Bio­Marin’s ther­a­pies for glob­al dis­tri­b­u­tion.
