A new bipartisan bill seeks to limit drug shortages by staying ahead of new demand increases.
Reps. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) and Cory Mills (R-FL) late last week introduced the Drug Shortage Prevention Act to require manufacturers to notify the FDA if they have experienced six straight weeks of increased product demand, with an aim to boost the FDA’s ability to predict and respond to drug shortages.
“The Drug Shortage Prevention Act will help lessen parents’ worries by creating more transparency of the demand for medication and minimizing drug shortages,” Jacobs said in a release.
