Chi­na's patent law re­vi­sions set to take ef­fect June 1; Ver­ri­ca's sec­ond trip to the FDA is de­layed

Chi­na is chang­ing its patent pro­tec­tion laws start­ing June 1, and drug man­u­fac­tur­ers are re­port­ed­ly among those that will ben­e­fit most.

The coun­try is aim­ing to give mak­ers of brand name drugs more tools to pro­tect their IP, ac­cord­ing to Bloomberg Law, al­low­ing such com­pa­nies to sue be­fore a sim­i­lar gener­ic prod­uct launch­es in Chi­na. Ex­ten­sions for patent terms for things like de­lays at the patent laws will al­so be al­lowed un­der the new rules.
