Covid-19 man­u­fac­tur­ing re­port: Ire­land will pro­duce mR­NA com­po­nent for Pfiz­er's vac­cine; Lon­za re­cruits fed­er­al em­ploy­ees for rapid ramp-up

An ex­ist­ing Pfiz­er plant in Dublin will pro­duce a com­po­nent of the com­pa­ny’s mR­NA vac­cine, the com­pa­ny an­nounced Wednes­day. Out­put will start by the end of this year.

Ire­land’s Prime Min­is­ter Micheál Mar­tin ref­er­enced the news in a tweet Wednes­day.

“Great news that (Pfiz­er) will soon be­gin pro­duc­tion of #Covid­Vac­cines here in Ire­land,” he said. “Not on­ly will the $40m in­vest­ment cre­ate 75 new jobs at Grange Cas­tle in Dublin – it al­so puts Ire­land at the heart of the EU’s fight against the pan­dem­ic.”
