Covid-19 roundup: EU opts in­to 80M more Mod­er­na vac­cine dos­es; Boehringer In­gel­heim takes its an­ti­bod­ies in­to the clin­ic

On the heels of its unan­i­mous 20-0 ad­comm vote in the US, Mod­er­na has an­nounced a new deal for its Covid-19 vac­cine in Eu­rope.

The Eu­ro­pean Com­mis­sion has ex­er­cised an op­tion to pur­chase an ad­di­tion­al 80 mil­lion dos­es of the shot, Mod­er­na said Fri­day morn­ing, bring­ing its com­mit­ment to 160 mil­lion dos­es for the con­ti­nent. De­liv­er­ies are ex­pect­ed to be­gin quick­ly should the EMA is­sue an au­tho­riza­tion af­ter CHMP meets to dis­cuss its mer­its on Jan. 6.
