Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson, a professor at Imperial College London, was the man who spearheaded the study that was in large part responsible for the UK government changing its approach to implementing lockdown measures mid-March, after his group’s modeling suggested the previous strategy could have killed 250,000 people in the UK and overwhelmed the National Health Service (NHS).
Days after the research was published, Ferguson said he was experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. On Tuesday, a report by the Daily Telegraph suggested said he had been visited by a 38-year old woman on two occasions, in breach of lockdown measures that only allow citizens to leave their homes to shop for food, for exercise or medical needs, or if they cannot work from home.
