Covid-19 roundup: Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on verge of EU authorization; CureVac launches PhIII trial in healthcare workers

It looks like the European Union may be getting the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in time for the new year.

The EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use on Monday recommended the agency move forward with conditional marketing authorization for the vaccine, paving the way for some EU nations to start inoculating citizens as early as next week. Major member states, such as Germany, France, Austria and Italy, had previously said they plan to start vaccinations on Dec. 27, should the shots be authorized.
