Covid-19 roundup: US in­ves­ti­gat­ing more my­ocardi­tis cas­es linked to Mod­er­na vac­cine; UK ap­proves Re­gen­eron mAb

The Wash­ing­ton Post re­port­ed late last night that CDC and FDA of­fi­cials are in­ves­ti­gat­ing where there might be a high­er risk of my­ocardi­tis, a type of heart con­di­tion, in younger adults than pre­vi­ous­ly be­lieved for those re­ceiv­ing the Mod­er­na Covid-19 vac­cine.

While the two Post sources stressed that the side ef­fect still prob­a­bly re­mains un­com­mon, the FDA and CDC are look­ing in­to Cana­di­an da­ta that sug­gest the Mod­er­na vac­cine may car­ry a high­er risk for young peo­ple, par­tic­u­lar­ly males un­der 30, than the Pfiz­er-BioN­Tech vac­cine. They’re al­so tak­ing an­oth­er look at the US da­ta.
