Covid-19 roundup: US investigating more myocarditis cases linked to Moderna vaccine; UK approves Regeneron mAb
The Washington Post reported late last night that CDC and FDA officials are investigating where there might be a higher risk of myocarditis, a type of heart condition, in younger adults than previously believed for those receiving the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.
While the two Post sources stressed that the side effect still probably remains uncommon, the FDA and CDC are looking into Canadian data that suggest the Moderna vaccine may carry a higher risk for young people, particularly males under 30, than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. They’re also taking another look at the US data.
