Covid-19 roundup: US ne­go­ti­at­ing for more dos­es of Pfiz­er vac­cine; Brazil de­lays ef­fi­ca­cy read­out for Sino­vac vac­cine

Af­ter al­leged­ly pass­ing up an of­fer to ac­quire more dos­es of Pfiz­er and BioN­Tech’s Covid-19 vac­cine last month, the US gov­ern­ment is in ne­go­ti­a­tions to dou­ble their dose or­der by next year.

CEO Al­bert Bourla told CN­BC’s “Squawk Box” on Mon­day that the gov­ern­ment is look­ing for 100 mil­lion ad­di­tion­al dos­es — which could vac­ci­nate 50 mil­lion more peo­ple — in Q2 of 2021. The par­ties haven’t signed an agree­ment yet, but Bourla said Pfiz­er would try to make it hap­pen. How­ev­er, some may not come un­til Q3, he said.
