Eu­ro­pean Com­mis­sion preps for ma­jor over­haul of phar­ma leg­is­la­tion

Some­time in the fourth quar­ter of next year, the Eu­ro­pean Com­mis­sion is plan­ning to re­lease a ma­jor pro­pos­al to over­haul the con­ti­nent’s gen­er­al phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal leg­is­la­tion to boost the sec­tor’s glob­al com­pet­i­tive­ness and cre­ate a reg­u­la­to­ry en­vi­ron­ment that’s more at­trac­tive for in­no­va­tion and in­vest­ment.

Ahead of that pro­pos­al, the com­mis­sion has now re­leased a new roadmap, open for feed­back un­til late De­cem­ber, out­lin­ing the prob­lems this re­vised leg­is­la­tion seeks to tack­le, as well as its ob­jec­tives and how any re­vi­sions may im­pact the econ­o­my and so­ci­ety.
