Evotec shuts down IT sys­tems in wake of cy­ber­at­tack

Ger­man drug dis­cov­ery and de­vel­op­ment play­er Evotec came un­der cy­ber­at­tack just be­fore the East­er week­end, the com­pa­ny re­vealed on Fri­day.

The biotech — known for its ex­ten­sive net­work of bio­phar­ma part­ners — said in a terse state­ment that an at­tack on its IT sys­tems oc­curred on April 6, but lit­tle be­yond that.

“As a re­sult, the sys­tems were shut down proac­tive­ly and dis­con­nect­ed from the In­ter­net to se­cure from da­ta cor­rup­tion or breach­es,” the state­ment read.
