
Ex-FDA commish Scott Gottlieb says he's 'very proud' of Pfizer post as top Dem attacks influence peddling
Scott Gottlieb isn’t apologizing to anyone for his decision to accept a position on Pfizer’s board of directors — less than 3 months after his exit as FDA commissioner. In fact, he’s clearly enjoying the career coup. But one prominent Democratic candidate for president took him to task for it today, saying it smacked of corruption and urged him to quit.
“This new role at Pfizer clearly is a bigger role than I did before I came into the FDA,” Gottlieb said on CNBC. “It’s something that I’m very proud of, it’s something that I think I can make a lot of contribution over time. But I made no bones about the fact that I had expertise in life sciences and I made my living trying to promote innovation in this sector prior to coming to the agency.”
