FDA says it won't al­low state-li­censed phar­ma­cists to pre­scribe Mer­ck­'s Lagevrio

Covid-19 pa­tients will have to call a doc­tor to get Mer­ck’s an­tivi­ral Lagevrio — at least for now.

The fed­er­al agency will not al­low state-li­censed phar­ma­cists to pre­scribe Mer­ck’s Covid-19 an­tivi­ral, al­so known as mol­nupi­ravir. The news comes a cou­ple of days af­ter the FDA de­cid­ed to al­low state-li­censed phar­ma­cists to pre­scribe Pfiz­er’s two-part an­tivi­ral Paxlovid with some lim­i­ta­tions.
