Francis Collins’ retirement didn’t last long.
Just weeks after he officially stepped down as NIH director, Collins has been called out of his lab at the National Human Genome Research Institute. President Joe Biden has tapped him to perform the duties of science advisor and co-chair of the president’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, or half of the role held by Eric Lander before he resigned amid a scandal that stemmed from accusations of bullying.
