Merck confronts stigma and fear around lung cancer screening in educational campaign
As Merck looks to expand its cash cow Keytruda into earlier lines of cancer, the company’s marketing team is encouraging patients to meet scientists halfway.
Its campaign, “Focus on Your Lungs,” debuted on Wednesday to help spread the word about annual lung cancer screening. While the five-year prognosis for lung cancer worsens drastically as the disease progresses, less than 6% of those at high risk got screened in 2021, according to Merck.
