Moderna finds a contract manufacturing partner to scale up vaccine supply
Moderna has been investing heavily in its manufacturing operations as CEO Stéphane Bancel ups estimates on how much Covid-19 vaccine they can deliver this year and next. Now, just a couple of weeks after promising hundreds of millions of doses to the US in a matter of months, they’ve signed up a partner to help speed the manufacturing work.
Contract manufacturing outfit Baxter BioPharma Solutions has signed on to provide fill/finish sterile manufacturing services and supply packaging for 60-90 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine this year. And Moderna CTO Juan Andres says the extra help will assist the biotech in scaling up rapidly this year.
