Mod­er­na finds a con­tract man­u­fac­tur­ing part­ner to scale up vac­cine sup­ply

Mod­er­na has been in­vest­ing heav­i­ly in its man­u­fac­tur­ing op­er­a­tions as CEO Stéphane Ban­cel ups es­ti­mates on how much Covid-19 vac­cine they can de­liv­er this year and next. Now, just a cou­ple of weeks af­ter promis­ing hun­dreds of mil­lions of dos­es to the US in a mat­ter of months, they’ve signed up a part­ner to help speed the man­u­fac­tur­ing work.

Con­tract man­u­fac­tur­ing out­fit Bax­ter Bio­Phar­ma So­lu­tions has signed on to pro­vide fill/fin­ish ster­ile man­u­fac­tur­ing ser­vices and sup­ply pack­ag­ing for 60-90 mil­lion dos­es of the Mod­er­na COVID-19 vac­cine this year. And Mod­er­na CTO Juan An­dres says the ex­tra help will as­sist the biotech in scal­ing up rapid­ly this year.
