No­var­tis, As­traZeneca vet Jonathan Symonds steers back to a top post in Big Phar­ma, this time at GSK

Jonathan Symonds has land­ed a new Big Phar­ma gig — this time as the non-ex­ec­u­tive chair­man at GSK.

The phar­ma vet — who did two tours as CFO at No­var­tis and As­traZeneca — was ru­mored to be at the top of the list of can­di­dates for the po­si­tion. He’ll now be tak­ing a di­rect board role in guid­ing the com­pa­ny through some white wa­ter ahead, as GSK looks to move their big R&D op­er­a­tions for­ward while carv­ing out a new con­sumer health­care com­pa­ny with Pfiz­er.
