Pfiz­er com­pletes $6.7B Are­na deal af­ter clock runs out on FTC ob­jec­tion pe­ri­od

Pfiz­er’s $6.7 bil­lion ac­qui­si­tion of Are­na Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals is of­fi­cial­ly closed.

The two com­plet­ed the buy­out Fri­day morn­ing, Pfiz­er said in a press re­lease, ap­par­ent­ly fac­ing no hur­dles at the FTC af­ter Pres­i­dent Biden’s ad­min­is­tra­tion had sig­naled a tougher stance on big-name merg­ers. It’s an­oth­er Big Phar­ma deal that passed the reg­u­la­to­ry process dur­ing the sup­posed crack­down by chair Lina Khan, who ar­rived as a cham­pi­on of a re­newed an­titrust move­ment.
