Phar­ma TV drug ads surge among more than half of lead­ing health con­di­tion cat­e­gories in Q1

While Big Phar­ma first quar­ter earn­ings con­tin­ue to roll out this week, the to­tal is al­ready in for the in­dus­try’s TV ad spend­ing. Much like the fi­nan­cial re­sults, it’s a mixed bag of ups and downs, ac­cord­ing to da­ta pro­vid­ed by re­al-time TV ad track­er iS­pot.tv.

About half of the pre­scrip­tion drug cat­e­gories iS­pot tracks notched ad im­pres­sion in­creas­es, while the oth­er half dropped. Al­ler­gy, cold and flu meds saw the biggest year-over-year jump by 208%, fol­lowed by blad­der and gas­troin­testi­nal drugs (up 135%) and im­mune sys­tem dis­eases (up 106%).
