Re­search start­up Care Ac­cess lays off half of staff fol­low­ing Pfiz­er Ly­me tri­al woes

Con­tract re­search start­up Care Ac­cess has let go about half of its em­ploy­ees in a ma­jor re­struc­tur­ing, two months af­ter the com­pa­ny was re­moved from a huge Pfiz­er study of a Ly­me dis­ease vac­cine.

The cuts amount to hun­dreds of peo­ple, and will af­fect near­ly every part of the busi­ness. Em­ploy­ees were in­formed yes­ter­day at a town hall. Care Ac­cess is part of Reify Health, a start­up that was found­ed to rein­vent clin­i­cal tri­als and has raised near­ly half a bil­lion dol­lars.
