Roche to buy up diagnostics partner TIB Molbiol; PAQ to partner with Insilico

Roche is buying its longtime partner biotech TIB Molbiol Group, the Swiss drugmaker announced Thursday.

While the financial details of the arrangement were not disclosed, the two companies have collaborated for more than 20 years on tests and reagents for pathogens such as SARS, anthrax, MERS, the novel influenza virus H1N1 swine, and most recently, SARS-CoV-2 virus and its variants.

Roche’s purchase will expand their diagnostic capabilities, as TIB Molbiol has over 45 CE-IVD assays and more than 100 research use assays. These include PCR assays from anthrax and SARS-C0V1 in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
