Senator asks FTC to investigate AmerisourceBergen over abortion pill distribution plans
Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) has asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate AmerisourceBergen after reports that the company might not distribute mifepristone to retail pharmacies in some states while still selling them to healthcare providers, Politico reported on Monday.
In her letter to the FTC, first published by Politico, Duckworth said the company could be using “its monopolistic power” by refusing to sell the drug to certified pharmacies. AmerisourceBergen is the sole wholesale distributor of the brand name version of the drug mifepristone, called Mifeprex, to retail pharmacies.
