Up­dat­ed: Sev­er­al man­u­fac­tur­ers re­port Tam­i­flu short­age as flu sea­son reach­es high point

As the flu sea­son con­tin­ues to rage, with the CDC re­port­ing over 23,000 hos­pi­tal­iza­tions for in­fluen­za, sev­er­al man­u­fac­tur­ers have re­port­ed short­ages of a med­i­cine that can be used to counter it.

The Amer­i­can So­ci­ety of Health-Sys­tem Phar­ma­cists (ASHP) re­port­ed a short­age of os­eltamivir, oth­er­wise known as Tam­i­flu, in sev­er­al dos­es by five gener­ic man­u­fac­tur­ers. Am­neal and Cam­ber have re­port­ed a short­age in the 30 mg, 45 mg and 75 mg dos­es, while Macleods is re­port­ing a short­age on­ly in the 30 mg and 75 mg amounts. Te­va and Zy­dus are list­ing a short­age of oral pow­der in the 60 mL bot­tle amount.
