Supreme Court steps in to stay Texas court's ruling on mifepristone
A Supreme Court justice has issued a five-day hold on a Texas federal court’s ruling to suspend access to an abortion pill that was approved decades ago.
Justice Samuel Alito handed down his decision just hours before the restrictions on mifepristone were due to take effect, and after the Department of Justice and Danco Laboratories, the drug manufacturer, sent emergency appeals to the Supreme Court. The conservative justice called for a stay until 11:59 pm on April 19.
