Trump administration tries to lure German coronavirus vaccine maker to US — reports

The Trump administration is trying to lure CureVac, one of the first companies to enter the hunt for a coronavirus vaccine, away from its base in Germany and to the United States, Reuters and a leading German newspaper reported.

Citing unnamed German government sources, the German weekly Welt am Sonntag reported Sunday that the US government had offered funds to bring CureVac to the US and gain access to the vaccine it was developing, while the German government was attempting to convince CureVac to stay and manufacture its vaccine in Germany and Europe. The country’s health ministry confirmed parts of the report to Reuters.
