Trump officials double up on Moderna vaccine supply, eyeing H1 mRNA campaign as Big Pharmas stumble

As most of the Big Pharma vaccine players fall further and further behind in the scramble to come up with a global supply of vaccines to combat the Covid-19 vaccine, the US government has struck a deal to double the amount of vaccine they will get from Moderna next year.

HHS secretary Alex Azar, who’s been pushing the FDA to trigger a snap OK for an EUA approval for the Pfizer/BioNTech mRNA vaccine, announced a deal to acquire an extra 100 million doses from Moderna —all set to be delivered in Q2. That comes on top of 20 million doses that ships this month with the rest due in Q1.
