Ver­tex, Seat­tle Ge­net­ics, Alpine with­draw from in­vestor con­fer­ence as biotechs brace for coro­n­avirus

In the first glimpse of how the coro­n­avirus’s grow­ing US spread could dis­rupt op­er­a­tions at Amer­i­can biotechs, a pair of ma­jor com­pa­nies with­drew to­day from a large in­vestor con­fer­ence.

Ver­tex Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals, Seat­tle Ge­net­ics and Alpine Im­mune were each sched­uled to present Tues­day at the Cowen Health­care Con­fer­ence in Boston. All an­nounced on Mon­day, the first day of the con­fer­ence, they were can­cel­ing their ap­pear­ances, cit­ing the grow­ing spread of the virus, of­fi­cial­ly known as SARS-CoV-2.
