Covid-19 roundup: US negotiating for more doses of Pfizer vaccine; Brazil delays efficacy readout for Sinovac vaccine
After allegedly passing up an offer to acquire more doses of Pfizer and BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine last month, the US government is in negotiations to double their dose order by next year.
CEO Albert Bourla told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Monday that the government is looking for 100 million additional doses — which could vaccinate 50 million more people — in Q2 of 2021. The parties haven’t signed an agreement yet, but Bourla said Pfizer would try to make it happen. However, some may not come until Q3, he said.
