EMA calls for AstraZeneca vaccinations to continue after safety scares delayed rollout
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said Thursday that the use of AstraZeneca’s vaccine should continue as new details emerge of some of the cases that led more than 20 European countries to halt their use of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The EMA’s Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) “has come to a clear scientific conclusion that this is a safe and effective vaccine,” EMA executive director Emer Cooke said in a press conference. The committee recommended raising awareness of these possible rare conditions to help spot and mitigate any possible side effects.
