GlaxoSmithKline tees up ‘Haleon’ brand name for consumer healthcare spinoff

From more than 2000 potential candidates, GlaxoSmithKline chose Haleon as the name of its consumer healthcare company spinoff. The newly announced brand is a mashup of the words ‘hale’ meaning in good health, and ‘leon’ which is associated with strength, the company said.

GSK began with an initial list of 2050 potential names, running testing and research with consumers and healthcare providers to find the most appealing possibilities as well as weed out the candidates that didn’t connect. The list was narrowed down to fewer than 20 names that were then run through legal checks.
