Bristol Myers, Pfizer team up with basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on stroke risk campaign
Basketball superstar Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has atrial fibrillation (AFib). However, when he first experienced symptoms, he ignored them. Now he’s joining Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer’s already-running “No Time to Wait” campaign to remind people to take things like heart racing and shortness of breath seriously.
Abdul-Jabbar tells his story in a video on the campaign website, noting that his first symptom was losing his breath sometimes when he was trying to walk, although he didn’t think it was serious. He was at a baseball game with friends when he finally couldn’t exert any physical effort and went to the hospital.
