A cancer diagnosis often rings alarm bells, and a not-surprising reaction is wanting to act quickly. However, when it comes to chronic blood cancers, a common recommendation for active surveillance, or “watch and wait,” as it’s often called, can present mental health challenges.
With slow-growing chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the most common form of adult leukemia, even treatment often comes with the caveat of “living with” and managing the disease versus other types of cancer where successful treatment means no signs of cancer.
