AbbVie winds down five-year, $350M philanthropy pledge

In the past five years, AbbVie rebuilt a middle school in Chicago, opened the doors to a new family center at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and expanded more than 33 Ronald McDonald Houses.

It was all part of a $350 million, five-year commitment with nine nonprofits that’s now winding down. AbbVie is looking back on the efforts in video posts on social media.

While AbbVie hasn’t pledged a new fund, the community programs and partnerships it’s established are “just the beginning” of its philanthropic work, said Claudia Carravetta, president of the AbbVie Foundation and AbbVie’s VP of corporate responsibility and global philanthropy.
