Up­dat­ed: Am­gen in ad­vanced talks for Hori­zon, WSJ re­ports; Sanofi pulls out

Drug­mak­ers Hori­zon and Am­gen are in ad­vanced talks about a deal, the Wall Street Jour­nal re­port­ed Sun­day, while Sanofi sep­a­rate­ly an­nounced Sun­day that it has pulled out of the dis­cus­sions.

Am­gen and Sanofi, along with John­son & John­son’s Janssen, were the three po­ten­tial bid­ders that Hori­zon dis­closed late last month, say­ing it was in pre­lim­i­nary dis­cus­sions about a takeover. Janssen pulled out of the talks on Dec. 3, and Sanofi said Sun­day that it couldn’t reach an agree­ment on price with Hori­zon.
