An offer you can't refuse: Democrats and Republicans trade barbs over incoming drug price negotiations
Quotes from the popular mafia movie “The Godfather” featured prominently in Republican comments at a House hearing yesterday on incoming drug price negotiations (or offers the companies can’t refuse) from the government, which Republicans remain fiercely opposed to.
The Republican majority in the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held the hearing, and noted in a memo at the outset that the penalties for refusing to negotiate with CMS over drug prices, and to agree in advance to accept any price, “are extremely punitive.”
