
Apellis raises uncommon eye disease profile with ‘The Fonz’ actor Henry Winkler
Sometimes celebrities are caregivers too. Actor and author Henry Winkler, best known for his ‘70s TV role as “The Fonz,” fits that description and is now speaking up about an advanced form of macular degeneration after his experience with his father-in-law.
Winkler is working with Apellis Pharmaceuticals as spokesman for its “GA Won’t Wait” geographic atrophy (GA) disease awareness campaign beginning with media interviews and social posts but expanding to include TV and radio ads later this year.
