ARCH-al­lied AN Ven­ture Part­ners rais­es $200M to build biotechs out of re­search from Japan

A new in­vest­ment firm af­fil­i­at­ed with ARCH Ven­ture Part­ners has raised $200 mil­lion for its first fund as it seeks to back sci­en­tif­ic re­search out of Japan to cre­ate new glob­al biotech star­tups.

AN Ven­ture Part­ners’ fi­nanc­ing haul was dis­closed in a Thurs­day SEC fil­ing and comes the same week Os­a­ka-based drug­mak­er Ono Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal said it had dou­bled its own cor­po­rate VC arm to $200 mil­lion af­ter hav­ing al­ready backed 11 star­tups, in­clud­ing Pho­tys Ther­a­peu­tics.
