AstraZeneca is leaving the lobbying group PhRMA, third drugmaker to ditch trade group in last five months
AstraZeneca has joined Teva and AbbVie in departing the US drug lobby group Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, saying it made the decision to end its membership after evaluating the relationship.
The British drugmaker is the third major pharma to leave the group in the past five months.
“We regularly evaluate our memberships with industry trade associations,” an AstraZeneca spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “Given the significant investment, we want to ensure it is the most productive and effective use of our resources.”
