Bernie Sanders in­vites CEOs of J&J, Mer­ck, Bris­tol My­ers to tes­ti­fy on drug pric­ing

Sen­ate Health Com­mit­tee Chair Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and fel­low De­moc­rats on Tues­day an­nounced that the CEOs of John­son & John­son, Mer­ck and Bris­tol My­ers Squibb have been asked to tes­ti­fy about why the US pays the high­est prices in the world for pre­scrip­tion drugs.

The sen­a­tors will hold the hear­ing on Jan. 25 and fo­cus their ques­tions on why drug com­pa­nies rack up bil­lions in prof­its and pay ex­ec­u­tives “ex­or­bi­tant” com­pen­sa­tion pack­ages, while as many as one out of every four Amer­i­cans can­not af­ford their pre­scrip­tion drugs, Sanders said.
