Biden administration proposes funding bump for FDA, nixing interchangeability requirement
Just days after Congress passed the FDA’s fiscal year 2024 appropriations package at the 11th hour, the Biden administration is asking for a bump in FDA funding for fiscal year 2025.
The administration’s FY25 budget request, unveiled Monday afternoon, includes $7.2 billion in total funding for the agency, split between appropriations and user fees, an overall increase of about $495 million. Of the total funding, about $3.7 billion would come from appropriations, and the agency could collect about $3.5 billion in fees.
