DOJ turns to SCOTUS appeal to keep abortion pill on the market
Following the order last night from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday that the Department of Justice will try to take the case to the Supreme Court.
The move follows the appeals court’s decision to effectively allow the preterm birth drug mifepristone to remain on the market, at least temporarily, but without changes made by the FDA in 2016 to mifepristone’s REMS and later to loosen the restrictions on mail orders of the drug may be thrown out in the interim.
