Bristol Myers snaps up former Novartis manufacturing site in Illinois
Bristol Myers Squibb plans to take over a Novartis plant in a Chicago suburb to manufacture its CAR-T therapies.
The company said Wednesday it executed an agreement with Novartis to set up shop at its former facility in Libertyville, Ill, with plans for the site to produce viral vectors for BMS’ CAR-T therapies.
The drugmaker did not disclose the terms of the agreement to Endpoints News.
“We entered an agreement with Novartis to lease the facility and purchase the site’s assets. The addition of this facility delivers on our dual-sourcing vector strategy, which includes internalization of vector production in addition to working with external manufacturers,” a BMS spokesperson said in an email to Endpoints.
