Build­ing on man­u­fac­tur­ing com­mit­ment, BioN­Tech meets with African lead­ers

On the heels of its an­nounce­ment to amp up mR­NA Covid-19 vac­cine man­u­fac­tur­ing in Africa, BioN­Tech an­nounced it is con­sid­er­ing putting vac­cine man­u­fac­tur­ing sites in Rwan­da and Sene­gal to help beef up the con­ti­nent’s sup­ply.

BioN­Tech CEO Ugur Sahin met with Rwan­dan Pres­i­dent Paul Kagame, Eu­ro­pean Com­mis­sion Pres­i­dent Ur­su­la von der Leyen and Sene­galese Pres­i­dent Macky Sall to talk about sus­tain­able vac­cine man­u­fac­tur­ing for Africa, and dis­cuss its al­ready-an­nounced plans to spin its mR­NA vac­ci­na­tion pro­duc­tion in­to malar­ia and tu­ber­cu­lo­sis vac­cine when the need for Covid-19 vac­cines be­comes less se­vere.
