CDER chief calls for ad­di­tion­al bud­get funds as staff de­par­tures spiked last sum­mer

When Pa­trizia Cavaz­zoni of­fi­cial­ly took the reins of FDA’s Cen­ter for Drug Eval­u­a­tion and Re­search last April, much of the at­ten­tion on her move to the top fo­cused on her rel­a­tive lack of ex­pe­ri­ence, hav­ing joined the agency in 2018.

But as Cavaz­zoni called to plug the gaps in CDER’s long-term bud­get pri­or­i­ties dur­ing an Al­liance for a Stronger FDA event on Mon­day, her com­fort in her rel­a­tive­ly new and in­creas­ing­ly dif­fi­cult po­si­tion was clear.
