Covid-19 manufacturing roundup: Brazil to manufacture Vaxzevria at home; AstraZeneca ramp up in Spain gets the OK

Thanks to a technology transfer to a prominent Latin American science institution, Brazil is now able to manufacture the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine domestically.

Fiocruz, a federal, public institution, will allocate all of the manufactured doses of Vaxzevria to the Brazilian Ministry of Health for public use. The news was first reported by Pink Sheet, and confirmed by a paper titled “Effectiveness of Vaxzevria and CoronaVac vaccines in Brazil,” from scientists in Brazil.
